Clifford was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Kingston, Ark., to Ernest and Mattie Garton. He was raised in Chouteau, Okla.
Clifford married the love of his life, Betty Lou Parker, at the end of his Army service in World War II. They were married for more than 66 years.
His greatest joy in life was his family and his church. He was actively involved in raising his two children and enjoyed being a part of the lives of his grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
He diligently cared for his family while serving as a manufacturing supervisor at Maclanburg-Duncan for more than 30 years. Clifford showed kindness and respect to the employees he supervised. In addition, he influenced the lives of many others by teaching adult men in Sunday school classes in Bethany and Eufaula, Okla., for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Garton; two brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Kendall and husband John of Amarillo; a son, Glen Garton and wife Linda of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; two grandsons, Tyler Kendall and wife Heather of Amarillo and Grant Garton of Washington D.C.; two great-granddaughters, Allie and Lexie Kendall; two sisters, Wanda Mitchell and Mildred Garton; a brother, Ernest "Bud" Garton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank the ministerial support of Mike Martin, Vaughn Tatum, Linvell Tisdale and Bob Miller and Childers Place Nursing Home and Hospice Care of the Southwest for their loving care and attention.
