Charles W. Johnson

Charles "Charley" W. Johnson, 75, of Amarillo passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017. Celebration of life services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2017 at Cox Funeral Home with Dr. Roger Hubbard officiating. Charley was born on October 9, 1942 in Corpus Christi to Charles "Mr. J." Sr. and Mabell Johnson. He moved to Pensacola, FL as a child, where he graduated high school in 1961. He returned to Corpus Christi, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration before enlisting in the United States Army where he served as a Captain stationed in Korea. Upon discharge, he worked in retail before employment at United Filters, eventually establishing his own business, Johnson Filtration Products in 1984. He married Mary Ann Kirkhuff on May 27, 1977 in Corpus Christi. Charley enjoyed golfing and traveling with Mary Ann. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Johnson of Amarillo; children, Julie Warren and husband Matthew of Amarillo and David Watts of Dallas and 2 grandchildren, Austin and Brenden Warren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family suggests memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St, Amarillo TX. 79109
