Charles “Chuck” Keney, Jr., 84, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. No other services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Chuck was born November 25, 1939 in Hartford, Connecticut. He grew up mostly in New York. Chuck joined the U.S. Air Force in 1957, and proudly served for 20 years, retiring from the military in 1977. He served during the Vietnam War, and was stationed in SE Asia and in the U.S. After his military career, Chuck went on to work in law enforcement for the next decade. He became an EMT and was the Chief of Police in Wessington Springs, South Dakota.Chuck raised his three children with his first wife Sharon. They enjoyed many happy years together before her passing in 2000. In 2001, Chuck made a move to Amarillo, Texas. He married Kay Draper on January 5, 2002 and they celebrated 22 years of marriage last January. While living in Amarillo, Chuck worked for Walmart and Jack B. Kelley. Chuck’s most notable hobby was guns and shooting. He and Kay also enjoyed doing ceramics together. Chuck had a very big personality, and always spoke his mind. He was very funny and never missed an opportunity to pull a prank. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Chuck was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Keney.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Keney of Amarillo, TX; two sons, Dave Keney (Bill Kraft) of Huntsville, AL, and Dan Keney (Cindy) of Long Beach, CA; a daughter, Diane VonEye (Gary) of Mitchell, SD; two step-sons, Ken Bintliff (Valerie) of Amarillo, TX, and Daryl Bintliff (Mistie) of Omaha, NE; two step-daughters, Nita Wakefield (Roger) and Denise Castillo all of Amarillo, TX; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
