Charles A. Langen

Charles A. Langen, 83, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Llano East Cemetery, with Pastor Rodney Weatherly officiating.

Charles was born August 18, 1938 in Borger, Texas to Vincent “PeeWee” and Allene Langen. He graduated from Borger High School in 1955, and went on to earn his bachelor degree in business from Baylor University, where he played baseball and basketball. He married Shari Dobkins on December 28, 1959 in Borger. They just celebrated 62 wonderful years of marriage. Charles proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. Early in his career, Charles worked at Dillard’s with Mr. Dillard. He entered the car business in the late 1970’s, and owned several car dealerships throughout his lifetime, retiring in the early 2000’s. After his retirement, he and Shari moved to Granbury to be close to family. They lived there for 10 years before moving back to Amarillo two years ago. They were active member of many churches throughout the years. Much of that time, Charles served as a deacon. Those churches include Castle Hills Baptist Church in San Antonio, Hoffmantown Baptist Church in Albuquerque, NM, First Baptist Church in Pampa, First Baptist Church in Dalhart, Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury and First Baptist Church in Amarillo. Charles, along with the whole family, enjoyed playing golf immensely.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Phillip Langen and Vincent Langen.

Survivors include his wife, Shari Dobkins Langen; two sons, Greg Langen and wife Brenda of Dalhart, and Jeff Langen and wife Leslye of Amarillo; and two grandchildren, Birkley Langen and Carson Langen.

The family suggests memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 1208 S. Tyler St. Amarillo, TX 79101.
