Christina E. Smith

May 19, 1975 — February 22, 2014

Christina E. Smith, 38, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel with Charlie Cox officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Christina was born May 19, 1975, in Amarillo to James and Sandra Hart. She attended Caprock High School, where she graduated in 1993. She then obtained an associate's degree in psychology in 1998. Christina married Chad Smith on Nov. 2, 1996, in Amarillo. She worked as the store manager for Blockbuster Video for more than 10 years and also Pinkie's Liquor Store for a year. She was known for her kind personality and her friends would say she was the least judgemental person they knew. She always made those around her feel more confident about themselves. Sometimes, she could be stubborn and was always frank with her opinions. Everyone will remember the great Halloween parties she and Chad threw and how much fun they always had. During her illness, Christina exhibited great strength and fought her illness with grace. More than anything, she loved her family. Survivors include her husband, Chad Smith of Amarillo; two daughters, Alex Smith and Sami Smith; a son, Ben Smith; her mother, Sandra Walker and husband Dennis Turner of Amarillo; her father, James Hart and wife Selena of Amarillo; a sister, Charlie Carruth and husband Bryan of Amarillo; two brothers, Josh Hart and wife Jessica and Shawn Hawkins and wife Marivel, all of Amarillo; eight brothers and sisters-in-laws; her grandmother, Helena Walker of Amarillo; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gail and Giffert Tuttle; her grandparents-in-law, Bill and Lucy Vinson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
