Chuck Jones

May 8, 1956 — April 23, 2026

Amarillo

Chuck Jones, age 69, of Amarillo, Texas, entered into the presence of the Lord on April 23, 2026. A service celebrating Chuck’s life will be held at April 27, at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2026, at Redeemer Christian Church, 3701 Soncy Rd., with Pastor David Ritchie officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Chuck was born on May 8, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, to Gwen Lee “Buddy” and Betty Jones. From an early age, his life was shaped by a steady faith that guided him in all he did.

Chuck graduated from Clovis High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in theology. An Eagle Scout, lifelong educator, and pastor, he faithfully served 12 years in Canyon ISD, 32 years at Trinity Fellowship Church, and 13 years in Amarillo ISD. More than any title, he saw life as a gift to be stewarded—loving others, serving faithfully, and walking humbly with God.

He was known for his warmth, wisdom, perseverance under trial, and steady presence. His unique gift for songwriting impacted not only his own children but countless others. His songs ranged from silly to spiritual, educational to deeply sentimental. If you knew Chuck, chances are one of his songs still comes to mind.

He lived with a lifelong commitment to making disciples, investing in people with patience and purpose. Through his work as a teacher, worship leader, pastor, and administrator, Chuck influenced countless lives. Yet his most treasured role was “Granddaddy,” bringing joy, love, and laughter to his seven grandchildren, always encouraging them and cheering them on in all they did.

He is survived by his children, Beth Talley and her husband Bob of Amarillo; Jon Michael Jones and his wife Rebecca of Amarillo; and Sean Jones of Chicago; his sister, Gwen McGranahan and her husband Marc of Albuquerque; and his seven grandchildren, Charlie, Aylah, Callan, Ruby, Charlotte, Chord, and Annie. He is also survived by his niece, Kira Ruffino, and his nephew, Michael McGranahan. He was preceded in death by his father, Buddy; his mother, Betty; and his stepfather, Bill Ferguson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Redeemer Christian Church Abolish Medical Debt Fund, which provides relief to local families by forgiving medical debt.
