Cindy (Brashears) Henson

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Cynthia “Cindy” Brashears Henson on April 3, 2025, at the age of 64, after suffering a long illness. Cindy was born to James and Charline Brashears on December 2, 1960, in Amarillo, TX.  A time of visitation for friends and family of Cindy will be held Friday, April 11, 2025, beginning at 5:00 PM at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home in Amarillo, TX. The Visitation will be the only time she will be available for viewing. Cindy’s funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with burial to follow at Llano Cemetery.

Cindy attended school in Canyon, TX and was a 1979 graduate of Canyon High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Services in 1996 at WTAMU. On March 26, 1996, she was inducted into the Alpha Nu Chapter of the Phi Alpha Honor Society. After graduation, she worked as the Social Services Director in Long Term Care until her early retirement in 2000, due to multiple health issues. She worked for Fred Berry Construction for over 25 years answering their phones. Cindy married Terry Michael Henson on December 20, 1980, in Amarillo, TX.

Proceeding her in death are her husband, Terry Henson; a brother, James Brashears, Jr.; her parents, James and Charline Brashears;  grandparents, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Survivors include her sisters, Carla Brashears of Amarillo, TX; Lisa Wilhelm and husband Roger of Wellington, TX. Cindy’s joys of her life are her four nieces, Ashley Peters, of Wellington, TX, children Chloe and Finnley; Lindsey Wilson (Sawyer) of Childress, TX, daughter Rileigh Wilhelm; Brittney Miller (Paul Miller) of Little River Academy, TX, children Breytton, Blayke, and Penelope; Wimberly Castro (Hunter) of Amarillo, TX, children Aariyah Heras, Patuxent River, MD, & Karsyn Castro. Her favorite nephew Matt Wilhelm (Sarah) of Robstown, TX, children Eva, Emma, and Eden.

Cindy had a wonderful friendship with Sandra Barnes for 37 years, and she will always hold a special place in our hearts. We appreciate Toni Perez for being her caregiver for the past 15 years and are considered our family along with Rosa Hernandez. Her previous caregivers Esther Vidal Santos and Vicki Snead are greatly appreciated and loved as well. To our dear cousin, Irish Hawkins, we appreciate all your love and support during this time. We appreciate the special friendships of Ronnie Berry for always calling and checking on her. Cindy adored her two dogs Tinsley and Dasher.
