Claretta was born on July 7, 1947 in McCook, Nebraska to Clarence and Martha (Thummel) Boor. She married Gary Lewis on December 26, 1964 in Liberal, Kansas. Together they shared fifty-seven years of marriage, two children and many memories together.
She was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Claretta loved her family fiercely and they loved her. She especially loved her grandchildren! They were #1 to her!
Her and Gary welcomed their first child, Sheila, into their lives while living in Goodwell, OK. After living in Liberal, KS for a short while Gary began his career with Anadarko Petroleum/ Panhandle Eastern in Fort Worth, TX where they brought their second child, Ricky, into the family. Claretta cherished the times they had at the lake with friends. After moving to Kansas City, KS she treasured the time she had raising family and always in attendance at her children’s ballgames and activities. Square Dancing with her Wheel and Dealers Friends and spending lots of time with her neighbors hanging out and playing games.
Liberal, KS was the next place they resided. Here she watched her two children graduate from high school. Something she would never live down was the few years she spent working for Lex’s Shoe Collection and spending her paycheck on her growing shoe collection! One last move before residing in Borger, TX Gary & Claretta moved to and lived in Houston TX where she welcomed her first grandchild. While in Borger TX Claretta welcomed 4 more grandchildren into the family! She loved spending as much time as possible with her family! Claretta and Gary also enjoyed the opportunities they had to travel especially trips when they could include her parents.
Christmas was always over the top whether it was decorating her tree one icicle at a time or icing her sugar cookies with a toothpick so they would be “just right!” And her greatest joy at Christmas was lavishing gifts on her kids and grandkids!
In a recent conversation Claretta considered herself Christian by faith. She understood and confessed Jesus as Lord and that there is no other way to God but through Jesus!
Claretta was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Martha Boor; one sister Linda Kerns.
