Claude R. Blocker

July 1, 1938 — January 5, 2015

Claude was born on July 1, 1938 in Wheeler County to Elbie "L.B." and Othello Blocker. He was raised in Dimmitt, where he graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1956. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1958, where he proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1960. Claude married Lillian Fanning on July 18, 1961 in Yazoo City, MIssissippi. He worked for Western Electric beginning in 1956, which later became AT&T and then Lucent Technology. He retired at the age of 51 in 1989. He and Lillian enjoyed traveling in their R.V., mostly to South Texas, where they enjoyed fishing and sight-seeing. He loved to hunt and showed great interest in genealogy. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Blocker of Amarillo; sister, Idella Crum of Dumas and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Gus Barron; brother, Clyde Blocker; sister, Cora Jordan and his best friends, Pat and Kenneth Cheek.
