Claudene Chessir, 93, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2020. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo with Pastor Howie Batson officiating. Funeral services are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Claudene was born February 10, 1927 to Claude and Kate Close in Odell, Texas. She married J.D. Chesshir in Odell, Texas on July 11, 1946; He passed away on June 20, 2012. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church here in Amarillo, and she worked as a teller for First National Bank for many years. Claudene was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed arts and crafts. She had beautiful handwriting. She was a dedicated wife and mother who loved her family very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and three brothers, Emory Close, Garland Close, and L.G. Close.

Survivors include her son, Roger Chesshir; her grandson, John Chesshir; three cousins, Dan Mohon and wife Manon of Orange, TX, Gary Mohon and wife Ernestine of Lubbock, and Nanene Neas and her husband Ed of Ft. Collins, CO.
