Clements “Clem” Novak, Jr., 87, of Amarillo, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Clements was born August 1, 1935 in Michigan City, Indiana to Christine and Clements Novak, Sr. He grew up in Amarillo. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1960, during the Korean War, as a sharp shooter and marksman. Clem married the love of his life, Peggy, in 1968. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage until her recent passing. Clem worked for Affiliated Foods, Texaco Refinery, and AISD. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and watching sports. He was an avid gardener and a Yankees fan. He read his Bible every single day. Clem also entered several competitive eating competitions. He tried his hand at the Big Texan’s 72 oz. steak a number of times. Clem is remembered as quite a prankster, and he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. To say that Clem adored his wife was an understatement. His life was not the same without her, and he longed to be with her again. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to extend special thanks to all the nurses who gave excellent care to Clem over the last several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy Novak; his son, Mike McKerley; his daughter, Corey Fore; his sister, Collette Golombowski; and his brother, Chris Novak.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Mitchell of Amarillo; two brothers, Carl Novak and wife Lillian of Hawaii, and Charles Novak and wife Sharion of Amarillo; a son-in-law, Cliff Fore of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
