Clifford Harold Frazier

January 11, 1928 — September 28, 2017

Clifford Harold Frazier, another member of the Greatest Generation, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Celebration of Clifford's life will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Cox Funeral Home - Benton Chapel, with Dr. Murray Gossett and Pastor Perry Hunsaker officiating. Burial will be at Llano East Cemetery. Clifford was born to Marvin and Valerie Turner Frazier on January 11, 1928 in Sweetwater, Texas. The family moved to Clint, Texas, where Clifford was raised on the family farm. He graduated from Clint High School, and served in the U.S. Army as a medic with the American Occupational forces in Japan. He tutored young men who left high school to enlist, so they could receive their high school diplomas. Clifford was an avid tennis player and was the U.S. Pacific Forces tennis champion. Clifford attended McMurry University, where his fine tenor voice served him well as a member of the "McMurry Chanters" choir. He was a member of the McMurry men's basketball team. He met the love of his life, Maridele Stovall, on a blind date after one of his basketball games. After the second date, they both knew they were meant for each other, and were married on September 2, 1949 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Clifford will be remembered as a kind-hearted, generous man who was devoted to his family. He farmed in Pecos, Texas for almost 20 years and later worked in the oil and gas industry in Pecos-and Iraan, Texas. Clifford was always known for his work ethic and honesty. He was a devoted, patient father who adored his daughters and strove to teach them to "always do the right thing" and that "if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything". He had a deep abiding faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior, and lived a life that honored Christ in all things. He had a very tender heart for all children and animals, and openly poured his love to them. Clifford was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Maridele in 2009; his parents; step-mother, Clara Sanders Frazier; brother, Deverle Frazier; sister-in-law, Bobbe Frazier; brothers-in-law, Eldon Turner and Tom Stovall; and numerous uncles, aunts, and friends. What a joyous reunion is going on now in Heaven! Survivors include three daughters, Darlene Schaub and husband, David, of Lake Livingston, Texas; Ruenell Frazier of Porter, Texas, and Shauneen Hatfield and husband, Biff, of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren: Valerie Schaub of Katy, Texas; Brandon Armbruster, of Austin, Texas; Scot Hatfield and wife, Lynn, of Amarillo, Texas; and Brent Armbruster of Kingwood, Texas; sisters-in-law, Ruedele Turner of North Richland Hills, Texas and Ruth Stovall of Roanoke, Virginia; as well as eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their heart-felt thanks to the staff at Ussery-Roan State Veterans Home for the tender care they provided Clifford for four years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Amarillo SPCA, 11901 S. Coulter, Amarillo 79119; or Amarillo Snack Paks 4 Kids, 701 Park Pl., Amarillo 79101.
