Clyde Preston Hollis

Clyde Preston Hollis, 77, of Canyon went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 16, 2017. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Monday, November 20, 2017 at Hillside Christian Church, 6100 S. Soncy. There will be a private family burial. "Preston" was born on September 27, 1940 in Big Spring, Texas to Earl and Lucille Hollis. He spent all his childhood in Big Spring where he attended Howard County Community College and played basketball. He married Joann Phillips, the love of his life on September 7, 1963. He graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Marketing in 1964. After college he worked in several phases in the Agricultural industry before finding his love for the cattle and farming business. Preston was known throughout the cattle business for his honesty and diligent work ethic. He loved the relationships and lifelong friends he made during his career. He spent 25 years working for AzTx Cattle Company in Hereford. He was an active volunteer with the Randall Co. Junior Livestock Show for many years and recipient of the Farmer Schaffer Award in 2011. Preston also had a deep love for farming. He continued farming part time up until his passing and was never happier than sitting on a tractor in a freshly plowed field. He was a regular part of the Senior Life Thursday Bible Study at Hillside Christian Church. Preston was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, James Hollis. He is survived by his wife, Joann Hollis of Canyon; 2 sons, Dwayne Hollis of Amarillo and Delbert Hollis and wife Kristy of Amarillo; a brother, Easton Hollis of San Angelo; six grandchildren, Brody and wife Kari Hollis, Haley Hollis, Jayton Hollis, Hayden Hollis, Graham Hollis and Emma Hollis; and one great granddaughter, Brookelyn Hollis. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
