Colene "Joy" Dalton

Colene was born on April 25, 1928 in the Range Community near Hardesty, OK to Colin H. and Una Mae Robertson. Following her mother's death in 1933 she moved to Vinson, OK. She graduated from high school there in 1946 before attending Southwestern State University of Weatherford, OK. Colene worked in the insurance industry all of her life and moved to Amarillo from Houston in July of 1961. She retired from AAA Insurance Agency in October of 1990. She became a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church, which later became the Church at Quail Creek in 1976, where she taught the Loyalty Sunday School class for many years. She enjoyed cooking, reading, working crossword puzzles and listening to Southern Gospel music in her free time. Above all, Colene cherished being "Momma Joy" to all. She is survived by her son, John Fleming and wife Jenny of Austin; daughters, Lauren Brazile and husband Terry of Amarillo and Joy Harris and husband Tony of Hope, ID; granddaughter, Heather Fleming of Austin; brother, Bob Robertson and wife Carolyn of Hobbs, NM and many cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her mother in 1933; her father in 1968 and a sister in 2001. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Cave Creek Cemetery, C/O Leonna Sherrill, 14669 Hwy 30,Vinson, OK, 73571.
