Consuelo B. "Connie" Valverde

Consuelo B. “Connie” Valverde, 83, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Private family services were held in Amarillo.

Connie was born March 23, 1943 in Trinidad, Colorado to Fermin and Lucille Cordova. She grew up in Trinidad and moved to Amarillo in the late 1980’s. Connie met her husband Frank at the race track in New Mexico and they married in a private ceremony on November 18, 1997 in Claude, Texas. Connie dedicated her life to caring for her family.

She was a very strong-willed lady and equally as funny. She was a devout Catholic and was strong in her faith. Connie enjoyed gardening and going to casinos to play the slot machines. Most especially, Connie adored her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francisco “Frank” Valverde; and a sister, Barbara Candelarie.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia F. Montoya and Tonya Martinez and husband Matthew, all of Amarillo; a son, Milton C. Montoya of Amarillo; a sister, Iva Gomez and husband Eddie of Weston, CO; and four grandchildren, Daniel Maxam and wife Monica, Justin Kazmierczak, Morgan Martinez, and Haley Martinez.

Honorary Pallbearers for Connie’s service were Daniel Maxam, Keegan Pompa and Justin Kazmierczak.
