Curtis was born March 26, 1935 in Dumont, TX, to Leland "Tater" and Mae "Big Mamma" Garrett. He was married to the love of his life, Juanell, for 40 years, before she preceded him in death, in 1998. Curtis retired in 2008 after driving a truck for J. Lee Mulligan for 28 years. Most people know him as "Hardtimes". He and Nell had six wonderful children together. Everyone who ever met him, fell in love with him. He is preceded in death by his wife Juanell, his youngest son, Nicky, his only brother, Pat, a sister, Oneita and by a granddaughter, Chrystal.
He is survived by four sons, Gerald, Scott, Dale and Cary; a daughter, Melanie; 21 grandchildren;
31 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and by three sisters, Diane, Donna and Susie.
A reception will be held at the Arena of Life Cowboy Church, at Loop 335 and Washington following the service.
