Cynthia “Cyndi” Brooks, 77, passed away April 12, 2025. Private family services are to be held at a later date.
Cyndi was born on April 7, 1948 in Pittsfield, Illinois to Norris and Helen Whorton. She graduated from Bluffs High School in Bluffs, Illinois. Cyndi married James “Jim” Brooks on August 6, 1992, in Borger, Texas. Together they shared 35 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
Cyndi had a gift for finding joy in life’s simple pleasures—she loved tending her yard, shopping, and making the most out of every day with Jim by her side. Some of their favorite memories were exploring Albuquerque and Santa Fe, admiring the hot-air balloons, visiting the car show in Fort Worth, and taking two unforgettable trips to Okinawa, Japan. Above all else, Cyndi was a remarkable mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She adored her family and took immense pride in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow.
Cyndi was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Kimberly Baker.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Brooks; son, Benno Lederer and his wife Megumi; daughters, Cyndi Lederer-Sydner and Eva Armstrong; sister, Nancy Heard; grandchildren, Norris, Verle, Zoe and James; great-grandchildren, Shyann, Matthew, Tanner, and April; and great-great grandchildren, M.J. and J.J.
