Dale E. Allen

Dale E. Allen, 78, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014. Celebration of life services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Dale was born July 14, 1935, in Springdale, Ark., to William and Annie Allen. He attended college at Pueblo Junior College, where he played basketball. He served his country in the Army. Dale retired from Asarco after many years as a forklift operator. He was a real hard worker, a character who loved to joke and play. He was a talented athlete. His hobbies included hunting, basketball and sports of all kinds. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Annie Allen; a sister, Opal Claypool; and four brothers, Ray, Arvin, Lee and Orville Allen. Survivors include a daughter, Shelby Crews and husband Chris of Lubbock; three grandsons, Nicholas, Harrison and Benjamin Crews, all of Lubbock; and two sisters, Jean Scofield of Amarillo and Ila Hayes of Borger.
