Dale Alan Hanvey

November 3, 1954 — November 19, 2024

Dale Alan Hanvey age 70 passed away on November 19, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas following a lengthy illness.

Dale was born in Elkhart Kansas on November 3, 1954, to Donna Jean and Robert E. Hanvey. He grew up and attended all 12 grades of school in Keyes, Oklahoma where he became known as a trusted and very charismatic young man. Dale was active in all sports and excelled in more than one during his High School years. His love for football especially, was something he kept for the remainder of his life. He learned the mechanic trade from his father at an early age and excelled in that as well.

Dale signed up for the United States Marine Corp. in 1974 and served until 1976 with a rank of Lance Corporal /Machinegunner. After his discharge he went on to work in the Louisiana oil fields on and offshore.

He then became a permanent resident in Denton, Texas and began work as a mechanic. He opened and ran several automotive shops in the area and was called one of the best mechanics in North Texas. His customers valued and respected his honesty and customer service. There were many times if his customer could not pay, he would allow them to pay out at 5 dollars a week. Something he had often seen his father do when he first learned the trade. When he was not working on someone else’s vehicle, he would be souping up his own car or truck he had at that time.

Dale was passionate about raising his dogs, who were all spoiled rotten, but they gave him great joy over the years. His four-legged friends he loved and spoiled were as follows: Baron, Dutchess, Princess, Stray Dog, Yogi, Sarge, Sissy, and Donkey.

Dale was preceded in death by his grandparents Oral and Marie Conner, William and Bessie Hanvey, his parents Robert and Donna Hanvey, a stepmother Nancy Hanvey, and his very special aunt Pat Conner. As well as numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is survived by his brother Gary Hanvey of Victor Mt, his sister Vicki and spouse Jim Thompson of Pueblo, Co, sister Marlee Bultman of Hugoton, Ks, brother Bradley Hanvey of Amarillo, Tx, his longtime girlfriend Robin Lyons of Denton Tx., and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will be holding a graveside service on 12/07/24 at the Willowbar Cemetery in Keyes, Ok. The family would also like to thank the Ussery Roan VA and the Hospice nursing staff for their support during this difficult time.

Dale’s wishes were to let his family know how much they meant to him and to thank them for taking such good care of him during his last years. He loved you all!
