Dale was born on April 5, 1931 in Iraan to Charles Ersel "Shorty" and Velma Derotha Williamson. He attended school in Iraan and McCamey. He received a four year scholarship through the navy to the University of Mississippi where he earned a BS degree in Civil Engineering. Dale served three years active duty in the navy as an engineering officer aboard the USS Black. He also served five years in the Naval Reserve. He married Jann McGinnis on June 3, 1957 in Odessa. He worked in engineering his entire career, moving to Amarillo in 1970 to serve the City of Amarillo as Director of Planning, Traffic, Code Enforcement and Section 8 Housing for fourteen years. He continued to the City of Mesquite where he served in Community Development for three years and then to Abilene where he served as City Engineer for seven years before retiring in 1994. Dale served for two terms as president of City Planners Association of Texas and was a member of Texas Society of Professional Planners. Dale was a devout Christian husband and father. He made his profession of faith and was baptized as a boy in McCamey. He was ordained as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Odessa in January of 1962. He served as a Deacon in the First Baptist Church in Odessa, Norman, Oklahoma, Amarillo, Abilene and Lewisville and Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas. His Church was always the center of his family's life. Dale will be remembered for his love for his family, his gentle spirit and for his faithfulness to his Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step father, O.C. "Lefty" Burns, one grandson Aaron Williamson and by his brother Glen Williamson.
He is survived by his wife Jann of Amarillo, two sons, Paul Williamson and wife Sarah and Alan Williamson and his wife Lisa all of Amarillo and one daughter, Lynn Bishop and her husband Den of Bartonville. One sister, Yvonne Hightower and husband Bobbe of Granbury and four nephews, Ed and Fred Hightower and Corey and Kennon Williamson. One half- brother, Lanar Burns of Las Cruces, New Mexico He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he loved very much, Brad Williamson and wife Magen, Alyssa Williamson, Emily and Joshua Williamson and Caleb and Courtney Bishop and by three great grandchildren, Braeden, Benjamin and Ellie Williamson.
