Danny Neal Hunt, 69, of Amarillo passed away on Tuesday, December 14 with friends and family at his side.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home at 4180 Canyon Drive, Amarillo. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Westlawn Cemetery in Borger. Both events will be casual in his honor, come as you are.
Danny was born and raised in Borger, Texas and was a graduate of Borger High School class of 1970. He was a big part of the muscle car scene in Borger in the late sixties and early seventies and his passion for car culture continued throughout his life. He loved to entertain those around him with stories of his wild younger days racing cars.
He married the love of his life, Debbie Johnson, also of Borger, on September 21, 1974 and they spent the next 47 years of their lives together. Danny and Debbie were inseparable, whether it was slipping off to the mountains for a weekend, going to car shows or just relaxing at home and taking in a game, they did everything together. In 47 years, they shared a love precious few are ever fortunate enough to feel.
Danny was a hard-working man. He was a facility manager for several chemical companies in the Borger area for over 30 years. Even after retiring from that, he continued to work right up until the end. Retirement didn’t suit him.
He was a man who could fix anything and he loved to tinker, whether it was fixing a car, fiddling with a guitar or making custom Christmas decorations. In his later years he also took to gardening and was also an exceptional cook.
Danny was the definition of a family man who was always there for those he loved.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bradley Trinidad and the staff at Northwest Texas Hospital, especially the staff of the Surgical ICU for their tireless and valiant efforts on Tuesday. Their hard work and dedication were noted and appreciated.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clovis James (C.J.) Hunt and Virgie Hunt, of Borger.
Survivors include his wife Debbie; his son Donny Hunt and wife Kristen Reid Hunt, also of Amarillo; four grandchildren whom he loved deeply: Avalon Hunt of Lubbock, Bradyn Hunt, Austin Hunt and Grayson Hunt, of Amarillo; his brother Jerry Hunt of Borger; half-brother Bobby Hunt of Ohio; and his best friend Cappy Holloway of Borger, who was like a brother to him.
