Dave Clugy, "Cowboy Dave", 80, of Amarillo passed away Friday, March 27, 2015. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, March 30, 2015 at Washington Avenue Christian Church 3800 S. Washington with Jim Shelburne officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 6:30 to 8:30.
Dave was born in Elizabeth, Colorado July 27, 1934 to Dorothy and Ralph Clugy. He graduated from Eaton High School in Eaton, Colorado. A true cowboy at heart, he cowboyed all over southwest ranches from Wyoming to Texas and was a saddle bronc rider with the Rodeo Cowboy Association. He also auctioneered for over 29 years, covering the Oklahoma and Texas panhandle regions. Dave was married to Mary Perkins from August 16, 1958 until her death on April 25, 1990. On March 13, 1993, he married Karren Grueter in Amarillo. He was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church, Kiwanis, ASCA, and Wally Bynum Airstream Club to name a few. He loved traveling in his airstream and had visited every state. He was also an avid western collector. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Clugy; and his brother, Steve.
He is survived by his wife, Karren; his children, Deborah Clugy-Soto and husband Carlos of El Paso, Scott Clugy and wife Amber of Sayre, OK, Glen Clugy and wife Barbie of Canyon, Brian Salter and wife Tammy of Espinola, NM, and Shannon Jackson and husband Michael of Spearman; also surviving him are 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Parkinson Foundation.
