David Gilliam, 67, of Amarillo, died Thursday, September 21, 2017. Celebration of Life services will be held 2:00pm Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 5701 Notre Dame in Amarillo. David was born March 4, 1950 in Amarillo to Dean and Doris Gilliam. He graduated from Caprock High School. He worked as a custom cabinet builder at Weatherly Kitchens, and then Kitchen Design, retiring in 2015. As a child, David loved riding dirt bikes at the river. He loved to fish, but hated water. He enjoyed racing stock cars, and 4-wheeling in his '67 bronco. David was a great father and grandfather. He adored his kids. He loved watching his grandsons race dirt bikes, and going to their ball games. He was passionate about animals, especially his dogs. David will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jimmy Gilliam. Survivors include a daughter, Candace Davis of Amarillo; two sisters, Suzy Ruff of Pueblo, CO, and Barbara McGrew and husband David of Amarillo; two grandsons, Blake Yost and Chase Davis; and a great-grandson, Christopher Stark. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to BSA Hospice of the Southwest, 5211 SW 9th Ave, Ste #100, Amarillo, TX 79106.
