David Lee Legates

Amarillo- David Lee Legates, 71, passed away February 3, 2023 after a brief illness at The Medical Lodge nursing home in Amarillo, Texas.

David was born in Paducah Texas on August 12, 1951 to William and Dorothy (Crumpler) Legates.  His family moved to Hereford, Texas where he lived until relocating to Amarillo, Texas where he resided until his passing.

He is survived by his brothers: Royce Legates and Richard Nolen of Amarillo, Texas; Bob and Carla Legates of Snyder, Oklahoma; Bobby Legates (nephew)Mustang, Oklahoma, Caden Legates (nephew) Yukon, Oklahoma; Tyler Legates (nephew) Mustang Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Nolen and Step-Father Dewey Nolen.

David touched the hearts of everyone he came in contact with over the years.  His upbeat personality affected everyone in his orbit.  He was affectionally known as the “Dr. Pepper Man” by everyone that knew him.

Our family wish to express our deepest gratitude to the Nurses and Staff of The Medical Lodge Nursing Home for the outstanding care they provided for David during his stay.  We are forever indebted to your kindness and professionalism.
