David "Mac" Thrash

David “Mac” Thrash, 90, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Private family services will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Open viewing will be from 1:00 – 5:30 PM Friday, July 24, 2026 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Mac was born April 7, 1936 in Alva, Oklahoma to Herman and Glennis Thrash. He graduated from high school in Boise City, Oklahoma, where he was active in ROTC. He married his wife, Deanna on February 9, 1956, in Clayton, New Mexico. Together they enjoyed 60 years of marriage and raised two daughters Kim and Pam.

Early in his career during the 1960’s, Mac was working in the print shop at Affiliated Foods, when a unique opportunity arose. He was chosen by IBM to create and establish the original data processing system for Affiliated Foods. He wrote the programs for their ordering systems and also established the IT department there, which he supervised until his retirement in 1992. Mac also had his pilot’s license and enjoyed camping, fishing and golfing in his spare time. Mac very much enjoyed doing his landscaping and took great pride in his yard. Mac was a strong-willed guy, who liked to say that there was the “right way, the wrong way, and my way”. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Mac was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Deanna Thrash; a grandson, Chad Edward Campbell; and a great-granddaughter, Logan Wood.

Survivors include two daughters, Kimberlin Campbell and husband Tom, and Pamela Redman and husband Rick all of Amarillo; a sister, Glenda Feeken of Alaska; his companion and friend, Treva Kay Walters of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Lindsay Hamel and husband Robert; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Wood and husband Cody and Lorelai Akins; two great-great-grandchildren, Oliver Wood and Caledan Wood; and several nieces and nephews.
