Dean Crooks

Dean was born on November 17, 1934 in Bertram, TX to Ruby and Mary Crooks. He was raised in Briggs, graduating from Briggs High School in 1952. He married Carla Stewart in 1954 in Briggs. They then moved to Friona, before settling in Amarillo in 1955. Dean worked as an estimator for A&M Steel and Manufacturing for over 25 years, before his employment at Allstar Sheet and Metal Roofing, where he worked over 25 years, retiring 6 years ago. He enjoyed working in his yard, being at his home with family and being "Papa" to his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Carla Crooks of Amarillo; 6 children, Mitzi Hall and husband Dennis of Jackson, TN, Doug Crooks and wife Robbie of Greers Ferry, AR, Greg Crooks and wife Bobbie of Burmingham, AL, Deana Malacara and husband Elias of Amarillo, Kristi Howard and fiancé, Kyle Tugwell of Amarillo and Brent Crooks and wife Tamara of Amarillo; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
