Deborah Joe O'Neal

Deborah Joe O’Neal, 76, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.

Deborah was born August 19, 1949 in Amarillo, Texas to Joe and Pauline Bailey. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1967. She married her high school sweetheart, Michael O’Neal, on June 22, 1967 in Amarillo. Together they raised two boys, Mark and Ryan and enjoyed 56 years of marriage, until Michael’s passing in 2024. They attended Washington Ave. Christian Church.

Deborah worked for Myer’s Fried Chicken when she was young, and later worked for First Bank of the Southwest and Amarillo Surgical Group. She was from a hard-working family, which was a trait she definitely inherited. She worked hard and was very frugal.

Deborah was a wonderful cook and she enjoyed playing cards. She liked taking trips to the mountains with her family and also visiting casinos. Mostly, she loved any time she was able to spend with her grandchildren. Deborah was very strong-willed and equally as kind. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael O’Neal; a sister, Barbara Turpin; and a brother, Dennis Bailey.

Survivors include two sons, Mark O’Neal and Ryan O’Neal both of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Hunter O’Neal, Brody O’Neal, Ansley Avery, Addison O’Neal and Makenna Grau and husband Merit; and three great-grandchildren, Monroe, Zaryn and Breecelyn.
