Delbert Tennison

January 27, 1940 — May 6, 2017

Delbert was born January 27, 1940 in Wheeler to Curtis and Monnie Tennison. He graduated from Patton Springs High School. On October 31, 1959, he married Loydell Roberts. They moved to Amarillo the same year. Delbert worked in construction for Gilvin Terrill and Jake Diel, before opening his own construction company. He owned and operated Tennison Construction for 20 years, retiring in 2002. Delbert enjoyed gardening in his spare time. He was a member of the Palo Duro Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. Survivors include his wife, Loydell Tennison; a son, Terry Tennison and wife Larissa of Lubbock; a daughter, Denise Stamos and husband Steve of Pilot Point; two brothers, Jerry Tennison and wife Doris of Austin, and Danny Jackson and wife Eva of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Tara Young and husband Chris, Kristin Stamos, Michael Stamos, and Colton Cuellar; and one great-granddaughter, Gracelyn Young. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, and one sister. The family suggests memorials be made to the Amarillo SPCA, 11901 S. Coulter, Amarillo, TX 79119.
