Delbert was born on October 25, 1927 in Meadow to John and Ora Timmons. He graduated from New Home High School in 1945 and then attended Wayland Baptist College. In 1946, Delbert was drafted in the United States Army, where he served in Korea during WWII before his honorable discharge in 1947. Upon his return, he attended Texas Tech University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture in 1950. While in college, Delbert met the love of his life, Louise O'Hair. They were the first couple married in the First Baptist Church of Quail on October 21, 1950.
They lived in Amarillo until February of 1952 when Delbert went to work as a county agent in Ochiltree County. They moved to Dumas in 1960, where he worked for the North Plains Water District before moving to Perryton in 1965, where he began his farming career. In 1983, they moved to Farnsworth where he continued farming. Together, Delbert and Louise loved to square dance and travel the country. They took many cruises and even made trips to Alaska together. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Ochiltree No. 90 for over 50 years as well as a member of the American Legion and a member of the First Baptist Church of Perryton.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Louise Timmons of Amarillo; 3 children, Cindy Looney and husband Anthony of Allen, Mike Timmons of Austin and Sheila Deal and husband John of Perryton; sister, Loene Ensor; grandchildren, Angie Ritchie and husband Jason of Plano, Grant Looney and wife Ashley of Midland, Sarah Timmons of San Antonio, Patrick Timmons of Austin, Helen Timmons, Terra Campbell and husband Douglas of Amarillo, Tambra Ellerbrook of Perryton, Abby Swink of Coppell and Becky Demetro and husband Cody of Amarillo; great grandchildren, Hunter and Blake Ritchie, Kylee and Kinsley Demetro, Teagan Duke, Caulin Campbell, Madison and J Mac Cobb V and Brooklyn Looney and many many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Clyde, Johnny and A.A. "Cot" Timmons and 3 sisters, Mary Francis McCrea, Gladys Boyd and Mamie Nell Valentine.
