Peggy Rorebeck

Delene “Peggy” Lynnette Strader Rorebeck, 68, passed away on July 28, 2026. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday July 31, 2026 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Pastor Robby Barrett officiating. An open viewing is from 11:00-6:00 PM Thursday July 30, 2026 at the funeral home.

Peggy Rorebeck was born on August 12, 1957, in Amarillo, Texas, to Dora and John Strader. She was the fourth of seven children. Peggy attended Tascosa High School and graduated with the Class of 1975. 

From a young age, Peggy was known for her caring heart and strong work ethic. She helped support her family by babysitting and, alongside her sister Starr, lovingly cared for their mother by doing housework and mowing her yard until her passing. Before she married, Peggy also devoted herself to caring for her beloved grandmother, "Gangie." During that time, she learned to make Gangie's famous banana bread and prune cake, cherished family recipes that became a Christmas tradition. After Peggy married, her sister Starr proudly carried on that tradition.

Throughout her life, Peggy worked at KO Foods, served in the nursery at San Jacinto Church, and mowed lawns. No matter the job, she approached it with dedication and a servant's heart.

Peggy met the love of her life, Clifton Rorebeck, shortly after graduating from high school. Just one month after they met, they were married on August 23, 1975, beginning a beautiful journey together that lasted 49 years. Together they built a loving home, raised two wonderful children, John and Irena, and shared a lifetime of love and devotion until Clifton's passing in October 2024. Peggy faithfully cared for him throughout his illness, demonstrating the same unwavering love and commitment that defined their marriage.

Family was the center of Peggy's life. She treasured every moment spent with her seven grandchildren and found great joy in helping care for them. She loved each member of her family deeply and fiercely, and she made certain they always knew how much they meant to her.

Peggy's life was one of selfless love, quiet service, and steadfast devotion to those she held dear. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always and carried on by all who were blessed to know her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Starr; her devoted and loving husband Clifton.

Survivors include her son, John Paul Rorebeck; her daughter, Irena Bell Rorebeck McCoy both from Amarillo, TX ; her 7 grandchildren, Brayden, Tyler, C.J., Angelina, Jaycee, Raeleigh, Baker; her sisters, Darlene Goudy and husband Larry; Lisa Rambo; Joni Hart; her brothers, John Strader; and Glenn Strader and wife Jeannie all from Amarillo, TX. Survivors also include a host of other family members.
