Dennis was born December 6, 1946 in Bloomington, IL, to Artimese and Ray Stamp. He grew up in Brainerd, MN and won the 1965 Minnesota State High School Wrestling Championship for the 175 pound weight class. He then attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where he excelled in amateur wrestling as a heavy weight, at 191 pounds. He made his professional debut in Thunder Bay, Ontario. In 1974, he moved to the NWA's Los Angeles territory, where he was a two-time Television Champion. By 1976, he joined the NWA's Western States promotion operated by Dory Funk and his sons, Dory, Jr. and Terry. He appeared with several other professional wrestlers in the 1978 Sylvester Stallone movie, Paradise Alley. His final match was in 1991. After retiring from wrestling, he began working at Cavely Pest Control #2, where he remained for over 30 years. He always had a love for professional wrestling and continued to work with amateur wrestlers in his adopted hometown of Amarillo. He also refereed UIL high school wrestling. In 1999, he was featured in the documentary, "Beyond the Mat". In 2014, he published a book about his wrestling days entitled, "The Stamp Collection: A Collection of Short Stories from the worlds most famous unknown Wrestler". That year, he also refereed a main event for Scottish Wrestling Entertainment. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff of Northwest Texas Hospital and Amarillo Hospice of the Plains.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; his children, Heather Stamp, Jaclyn Stamp, Kim Hibbs,
Kristine Stamp-Jerabek and spouse Z. Amos Jerabek-Stamp; his grandchildren, George and Helen Stamp-Jersbek, and Sean Stamp; his siblings, Tom Stamp and wife Donna and Margaret Maruca; also surviving him are his nephews, Jesse, Craig, Jason, Ty, Eric, and Bryan; his niece, Lisa; and John Goddard, a special nephew, that was like the son he never had; a sister-in-law, Sharon Goddard and spouse, Dean Wyman; a brother-in-law, Jack Goddard; as well as a host of other family and many friends.
