Public viewing will be from 2:00 – 6:00 PM Wednesday and 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM Thursday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Don was born on April 7, 1955 in Clarksville, Tennessee to Coolie and Virginia McCollom. He graduated from high school there, and went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years. Don moved to Amarillo in the 1970’s, where he raised his kids, Danny, Sarah and Cortney. Don married his wife Kim on July 15, 1994, making him a second Dad to Scotty and Laycee.

Don worked for Pantex as a security officer for 38 years, retiring in 2017. Don had a servant’s heart and a strong faith in Christ, which he enjoyed sharing with others. He taught a Bible study class at the Clements Unit for 12 years, went on three mission trips to Brazil and was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church for the last 8 years. Don was very quick-witted. He was an avid Tennessee Volunteers fan, but also adopted OU as a favorite team over time, except on Tennessee/ OU game days. Don was active with Volleys for Veterans, offering military honors at veteran’s funerals for several years. He was very proud to have had the opportunity to serve his country. Semper Fi! Oorah!

Don was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings; and a son, Cortney McCollom.

Survivors include his wife, Kim McCollom; four children, Danny McCollom and wife Ruth of Powhatan, VA, Sarah Milward and husband Justin, Scotty Fish and wife Emily all of Amarillo, and Laycee Johnson and husband AJ of Pampa; a brother, Greg McCollom of Clarksville, TN; 13 grandchildren, Deanna Williams and husband Tyler, Hosten McCollom, Dustin McCollom, Josiah McCollom, Seth Reppart, Brody Reppart, Shea Copley and husband Connor, Kaydon Johnson, Koy Johnson, Charlee Johnson, Gentry Brown and husband Hank, Camden Fish, and Kason Fish; and a great-grandson, Kai Copley.
