Donald Y. Conner

Donald Y. Conner, 85, of Amarillo died Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Shamrock. Burial will follow at Shamrock Cemetery. Donald was born on August 30, 1931 in Shamrock to Roy and Marie Conner. He was raised in Shamrock, where he graduated from Shamrock High School in 1949. He married Idella Hinchey on December 23, 1950 in Shamrock. She preceded him in death on November 4, 2012. Donald attended Wayland Baptist University, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Theology in 1959. Following completion of his degree, he devoted his life to serving the Lord as a Baptist minister throughout Kansas and Texas. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and woodworking. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice. He is survived by daughter, Donna Souza and husband Larry of Vernon; his son, Larry G. Conner and wife Charlene of Canyon;grandchildren, Donald A. Conner and wife Amanda, Sean Conner and wife Amber, Penny Savory and husband Marvin and Ginger Golden and husband David; 2 step grandsons, Ty Burk and wife Sara and Tel Burk and wife Holly; 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Idella Conner; 2 brothers, Roy Lavon and Johnny Conner and his sister, Oveta Orand.
