Donald “Don” Henderson, 72, of Amarillo, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Don was born August 22, 1948 in Guymon, Oklahoma to Don and Ardith Henderson. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1967. Don proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1967-1970. He earned two Purple Hearts during his service. After his honorable discharge from the military, he attended West Texas State University. He married Vicki Lee on June 25, 1972 in Childress, Texas. Don made his career at USPS as a mail handler for almost 34 years, retiring in 2007. In his spare time, Don was heavy into war games. He was a huge history buff and an avid reader. He had a fascination for true crime and was a big Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved his fur babies, Easy and Jitters almost as much as his children. Don was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Vicki Henderson; a son, Brian Lee Henderson of Lewisville; a daughter, Vanessa Henderson of Amarillo; a brother, Kim W. Henderson and wife Kimbra of Amarillo; a sister, Kip L. Denson and husband Steve of Ocala, FL; brother-in-law, Rex Lee and wife Donna of Dennison; Steve Lee of Howardwick; David Lee and wife Debbie of Dennison, and loved by many nieces and nephews; two grandchildren, Brilee Henderson and Kimbal Henderson; and his lifelong friend, Walter Simms.
