Donald Wayne "Don" Henderson of Amarillo and formerly of Guymon passed away peacefully on Monday, December 14, 2015 surrounded by his loving wife, Juanita, his 2 sons, Chad and Chance, his daughter, Cherie' and his granddaughter, Emma following a lengthy illness.
Don was born November 4, 1939 in Big Spring, TX and moved to Guymon with his family in 1944. He graduated from Guymon High School in 1956 and attended West Texas University and Panhandle A&M. Don spent most of the 60's in Alaska where he met and married Nancy Clifford. From this union came their two children, Christopher Wayne and Cherie'.
Don moved back to Guymon in the late 60's and bought his father's business, Henderson Construction. He also owned and operated many other businesses employing many families in the Texas County area. During a period of time in the 80's he was the owner of La Mesa Park Race Track in Raton, NM.
In 1993, Don married the love of his life, Juanita McMillion Berg. The two of them loved traveling throughout the world, enjoying each other's company. His favorite hobby was his wife, Juanita. He was a doting husband who always put his wife's needs first. Don was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying many places, his favorite being the mountains. He was known to be a generous and giving man, especially to his employees. He never asked for anything in return or any recognition, taking care of others was payment enough for him.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Henderson of Amarillo; sons, Chad Wynn Berg of Elk City, OK and Chance Tyson Berg and wife Tracie of Enid, OK; daughter, Cherie' Henderson of Longmont, CO; daughter-in-law, Michelle Berg of Elk City; sister, Helen Price of Guymon; mother, Dorothy Henderson and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, William H. "Bill" in 1995 and 2 sons, Christopher Wayne Henderson in 1999 and Johnny Chris Steffen in 2009..
