Donna K Christie

Donna K (Redding) Christie, 68, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on June 30, 2019 comfortably in her daughter’s arms. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Llano Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Cox Funeral Home. Donna was born in Big Spring, Texas on September 16, 1950 to Dorothy and Grady Redding. She attended school in Big Spring before setting out to explore Texas and herself. She explored various occupations including waitress, secretary, and roofer. During this time, Donna met her husband Randy Christie. They married on September 18, 1983, moved to Amarillo, and welcomed their daughter, Christina Anne Christie, soon after. Donna loved and cared dearly for her family and friends. She earned her nickname of “Mama K” by being a second mom to anyone who needed a caring adult in their lives. Donna worked as an Independent Contractor for USA Today for more than 20 years. She loved having the opportunity to take care of her customers as well as visit with the business employees where she delivered papers. She loved spending time planting flowers and enjoying her pond. Donna’s heart grew when Christina married Nick in 2006. She gained not only a son-in-law but also one of her most treasured friends. The light of Donna’s life entered this world in 2011 through her grandson, Acklin. Her favorite motto was, “Nannies don’t say ‘no’,” and she held firm to that belief. Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Randy Christie, her father-in-law and friend, Joe Christie, and her parents, Grady and Dorothy Redding. Donna is survived by her daughter, Christina Greene, son-in-law and friend, Nick Greene, and grandson, Acklin Greene, mother-in-law, Lois Christie, an aunt, Sandra McCormack, a cousin, Darrell Deel and many friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The Hope Garden, care of Snack Pak 4 Kids.
