Born August 20th, 1949 in Waurika, Oklahoma to Howard and Nell Morgan, Donna entered this world with the same wit and humor that her family came to love and appreciate with each passing year. Her uncanny ability to weave humor into every aspect of her life became obvious when her family discovered that she even wrote her own birth announcement and that it was actually published in the local newspaper: "Hi folks, this is Donna Kay Morgan, calling from the Waurika hospital where I arrived Saturday afternoon. I'm already a big girl as I weighed 7 pounds and am doing fine. I'm the first baby in my family and I've made Grandpappy and Grandma Jerry Morgan proud as I'm their first grandchild. Mrs. Beaulah Creswell is my other grandmother and she thinks I'm fine too. My mother and I are doing nicely thank you, and we will be seeing you soon. It's eating time now. Bye."
Donna was part of a blended family created in 1963 that was quite unusual – full of love and void of the usual drama that so often is observed in that situation. There were 7 children brought together over time, so in addition to her sister Dana, she had half and step siblings as well, but you’d never hear those descriptions used – all were loved equally. From that blended family she was blessed by having a Godly and loving bonus mom (step-mother) for 61 years.
Upon graduating high school, Donna trained and worked most of her adult life as a beautician and hair stylist. Donna's "people and fun-loving" personalty made her career of choice a perfect job fit.
In her later years Donna turned her focus from career to family; especially focusing on her grandchildren (her pride and joy), her mother and her sister, Dana.
After her mother passed in 2018, she and Dana began making an annual road trip with their sister, Kelly. They enjoyed 5 years of wonderful sites and memories traversing the country and tussling on occasion about who got to pack the car each time. Along the miles, they would collect rocks and patches and finally decided to craft a quilt to chronicle their travels and planned to carry it along on each adventure. What Donna calls a crudely made creation would later be dubbed the “Traveling Quilt of the Morgan Girls”.
Donna loved the Lord, her family and her church. She was a faithful prayer warrior; always thankful for her blessings and full of grace. We will miss her but we will see her again at our heavenly "family" reunion and oh, what a glorious day that will be.
