Mary Donna McClure, born on March 3, 1938, in Sulphur, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on September 3, 2024 after a courageous fight with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Monday September 9, 2024 at Lake Tanglewood Community Church, 106 Tanglewood Drive, with Jon Brooks officiating. Anyone wishing to pay their final respects to Donna may do so on Saturday September 7, 2024 from 12:00 – 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Donna was the cherished daughter of Mary Burgess Rutherford and Roy Rutherford. She grew up and attended school in Sulphur, where she formed the foundation of the strong values and close-knit family and friend bonds that would define her life. At the tender age of 16, Donna married the love of her life, Kenneth McClure. Together, they moved to Amarillo, Texas and embarked on a beautiful journey of marriage that spanned nearly seven decades, with what would have been their 70th anniversary approaching in January 2025. Donna's greatest passion was her family. She dedicated her life to being a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a beloved "Meme" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Professionally, Donna applied her secretarial skills as the Assistant to the Graduate Dean at West Texas A&M University and at Texas Animal Health. In addition to her professional career, she excelled as a gift wrapper at Colberts, a skill that she lovingly passed down to her daughters and granddaughters. Every Christmas, her legacy shines through in the beautifully wrapped gifts under the tree, a tradition cherished by her family. Her dedication to her work was evident, yet her heart always remained at home with her family, where she found her true calling.

A woman of faith, Donna was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo and, for the last 30 years, a member of Lake Tanglewood Church. She has faithfully participated in the Thursday Women’s Bible Study, where she found joy and fellowship. Donna also relished her time with her Book Club at Lake Tanglewood, where she shared her love for reading with dear friends.

Donna was well known for her vibrant personality and her love for life. She enjoyed many years playing in various bridge clubs and square dancing, where the camaraderie and friendships brought her much happiness. Donna also had a deep love for flowers and gardening, often tending to her garden with the same care and affection she showed her family. All holidays at her home were a special time, filled with her warmth, delicious meals, and the company of her cherished loved ones. Her “love language” was cooking and providing wonderful food for her family.  One of their most treasured gifts is a cookbook that she put together with all her favorite recipes.  She also had a special place in her heart for birds, especially red cardinals, and the special cats she cared for as family pets over the years.

Donna is survived by her devoted husband, Kenneth McClure; her children, Katy Mosley of Amarillo, Carol Mills of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Brian and Kari McClure of Coppell; and her brother, Allen Rutherford, and his wife, Jerry, of Longview, Texas. She leaves behind a legacy in her grandchildren, Ashley and John Whittemore of San Antonio, Megan and Tyson Lippincott of Denver, Colorado, Matthew and Kaitlin Mosley of Amarillo, and Jenni and Logan Lanier of Southlake. Donna was also the proud great-grandmother to Kensington, Caroline, and Elizabeth Kate Lanier; Hannah and Hazel Mosley; and Harrison and Harmony Whittemore.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, and her son-in-law Bob Mosley whose memories she cherished and honored throughout her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Donna's memory to a ministry that shares God’s love with others at www.believeinhisname.org .

Donna's life was a testament to love, faith, and family. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
