Doris Hays, 84, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Friday at Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, with Pastor Bill Ivins of St. Paul United Methodist Church officiating.

Doris was born March 21, 1937 in Louisburg, Kansas to Merrel and Mabel Johnson. She graduated from high school in Satanta, Kansas. She married John Hays on August 30, 1958 in Amarillo. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage together.

Doris served several medical practices in Amarillo as an X-ray technician. She served as church secretary at St. Paul United Methodist Church for ten years. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed browsing through cookbooks. She collected salt and pepper shakers. Most especially, Doris enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jimmy Johnson; and her brother-in-law, Gary Parent.

Survivors include her husband, John Hays; a son, David Hays and wife Thelma of Amarillo; two daughters, Michele Hays of Corpus Christi, TX and Kimberly Hunt and husband John of Amarillo; a sister, Rita Parent of Amarillo; four grandchildren, John Hays and wife Darla, Zachary Hays and wife Laci, Thomas Hays and wife Carissa, and Michelle Floyd and husband Seay; seven great-grandchildren.
