Doris K. Isherwood

Doris K. Isherwood lived in Amarillo for 11 years, she was 93 when she passed into the arms of Jesus on January 8th, 2021. There are no services scheduled at this time. Doris was born on September 26, 1927 in Port Allegany Pennsylvania, to Frank and Mildred Puhl. She graduated from Port Allegany high school and continued with West Brooks Business Academy in Olean NY in 1946.  From 1947 to 1953, she worked as Executive secretary to the Vice President & Chief Geologist at North Penn Gas Company.  Doris married her sweetheart Robert Isherwood on June 10, 1950 in Port Allegany.

Later in 1953, they opened Isherwood’s Jewelry Store and worked together until July 1961 when their lives changed as they moved to the U.S. Virgin Islands with their two daughters. In 1962, their son Kurt was born. Doris and Bob started the watch industry on St. Croix, USVI, their company Watches Inc., manufactured mechanical watches for private labels until 1974 when quartz watches were introduced and their factory closed. Doris then worked for Unitime Watch Company as their office manager from 1975 to 2003 when she retired. In 2009 Doris moved to Amarillo Texas to be with her son, and help him and his wife at their jewelry store KMC Jewelers.  Over the years Doris enjoyed bowling on teams in the Virgin Islands, and even started playing golf, she was also a great bridge player.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents Frank and Mildred, her brother George and three sisters, Francis, Mary, and Betty. Surviving family members include, daughters Janelle Isherwood, Sanna Krzyszton and her husband Robert Stewart, and son Kurt Isherwood and his wife Michelle Lacko Isherwood plus two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
