Doris Roberts

Doris Roberts, 85, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM on July 26, 2025, at Coulter Road Baptist Church, 4108 Coulter Street, with Pastor Dan Stewart officiating. Inurnment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Doris was born on December 10, 1939, in Deming, New Mexico, to Myrtle and Milton Grimm. She has been a part of the Amarillo community since 1972, a total of 44 years. Doris worked as a nurse’s assistant at Saint Luke’s Hospital; she also owned her own childcare business, taking care of children for many years. Doris was a devoted member of Coulter Road Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, one of her favorite ministries with the church. She could often be found enjoying the warm weather, flowers, bird watching, and playing Sudoku.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Terry Winchell; one brother, Bob Grimm; two sisters, Grace Holeman and Betty Grimm; and one great-granddaughter.

Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie Woodard, and husband Ronny of Amarillo; one son, Ron Winchell, and wife Carla of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Clay Roberts (Christen), Abbey Winchell, Nathan Woodard (Haley) and Jordan Woodard, and Jessica Noonan; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Coulter Road Baptist Church, 4108 Coulter Street, Amarillo, TX 79109.
