Dororthy Louise Derrick

Dorothy Louise Derrick passed away on December 11, 2025. Celebration of Life Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday January 8, 2026 at Power Church, 1344 SE 10th, with Pastor Manny De Los Santos and Pastor Tommy Ray officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Dorothy Louise Derrick was born July 14, 1947 to her loving parents Lola and Fred Adams in Elk City, Oklahoma. There she grew up with nine siblings, went to school, and lived out her childhood and early adult life.

Dorothy married and had her first son Anthony, who passed at 10 months old. She was later blessed with Leonard, Thomas, Devin and she never failed to honor Baby Girl Derrick who passed at birth. The role God gave her as a mother was never taken lightly. Dorothy loved and took pride in all her children.

In 1982 Dorothy moved to Amarillo, TX to be closer to her late brother Ira Jay. Here she pursued a career working at St. Anthony’s Hospital for over 10 years.

In her spare time Dorothy loved spending quality time with her family. She never hesitated to call someone out for a game of dominoes or spades. Early on in her life, Dorothy surrendered and gave her life to the Lord, she loved to serve and worship him. Dorothy loved doing crossword puzzles, cooking for her family, hanging out with her grandkids, traveling, and watching her favorite t.v. shows.

She is reunited in Heaven by both her parents, Lola and Fred Adams; her two brothers, Rafe and Ira Jay Adams; her baby sister Pauline; her children, Anthony Derrick, Baby Girl Derrick, and her grandson Javonta Pierson.

She will be extremely missed by her siblings; Tommy Rae, Joe, Roy, Ida Mae, and Brenda Kay; her children; Leonard and his wife Sonya, Thomas and his wife Doree and Devin; her 13 grandchildren and her 14 ½ great-grandchildren. Survivors also include a host of family and dear friends will miss her dearly.
