Dorothy Jean Mankins

Dorothy Jean Mankins, 89, of Amarillo passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018. Graveside Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 9,2018 at Llano Cemetery. The family will received friends for visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m on Thursday, February 8, 2018. Dorothy was born on March 11, 1928 in Oklahoma to Logan and Dona Bishop. She was raised in Oklahoma, where she resided before finally settling in Amarillo 2 years ago. Dorothy was known to be an avid wrestling fan, spending most weekends with her family at the matches. She enjoyed frequent trips to the lake, was a great dancer and loved ice skating. Dorothy worked for Amarillo Globe News for over 10 years after her employment at Jimmy's Egg in Oklahoma City, where she worked for many years. She was known to be strong willed, yet soft spoken as well as kind and gentle to others. Dorothy is survived by her 7 children, Elton Williams of Oklahoma City, Robert Williams of Plymouth, WA, Carolyn Maulding and husband Charlie of Jay, OK, Becky Miller, Michael Williams, Mary Acosta and Terri Williams, all of Amarillo; 27 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who will miss her greatly. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, George Robert Pierce and Logan Don Pierce and 3 children, Donna Parsons, Wayne Williams and Ruth Stanley.
