Dortha L. Gollihugh

Dortha L. Gollihugh, 95, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at Arena of Life Church, 8827 S. FM 1541. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 pm Friday at the funeral home. Dortha was born October 4, 1922 in Blaine County, Okla. to Emerson and Edna Wilcox. She was a wonderful mother to 11 children. She lived in Cockrell Hill for 22 years, Glen Rose for 11 years, and has lived in Amarillo since 1996. Dortha married James McDonald in 1939. They were married for 18 years. Together, they raised eight children. She then married Loyel D. Gollihugh in 1986. They had three more children together. He preceded her in death in 2002. She enjoyed her work as a waitress at Saratoga, Pete's Truck Stop, and Krahn's in Vega. She was a member of Arena of Life Church. In her spare time, Dortha enjoyed handiwork, such as embroidery and crochet. She also loved collecting clocks. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loyel D. Gollihugh; four sons, Mickey McDonald, Larry Gene McDonald, Jimmy McDonald, and Terry Gollihugh; two grandsons, Gene McNeil, and Richard McDonald; two sisters, Beatrice Link and Ruby Bowers; and a brother, Bill Wilcox. Survivors include four daughters, Joyce Christian and husband Roy, Judy Cox, Ginger McNeil, and Connie Gollihugh all of Amarillo; three sons, Don Wilcox of Rockport, Tommy McDonald and wife Irene of Amarillo, and Dwight Gollihugh and wife Carrie of Albuquerque, NM; 27 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; and many, many great-great-grandchildren.
