Dovie “Joyce” Williams, 82, of Amarillo passed away surrounded by her loved ones on December 14, 2022. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Llano Cemetery, 2900 Hayes. The family will be accepting friends from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Joyce was born December 1, 1940 in Littlefield, TX to Johnie and Bernice Findley. She had lived in Amarillo most of her life, her parents owned Findley’s Fruit Market. Joyce graduated from Amarillo High School. She met and married the love of her life, Charles Williams on October 2, 1959 in Amarillo at West Amarillo Church of Christ. Together they shared 63 years of marriage and two beautiful children. Joyce retired from JC Penney’s after 15 years, she had won several Top Sales Awards. She was a good cook, especially loved making her candies. Joyce enjoyed her crossword puzzles. She loved researching her family genealogy and keeping up with the family tree. Joyce was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband Charles of the home; her son, Dwight Williams (Cykeitha) of Burleson, TX; her daughter, Shanna Smith (Ronnie) of Amarillo, TX; her brother, Curtis Findley (Ann) of Amarillo, TX; her sister, Glenda Martin (Dan) of Amarillo,TX; her sister-in-law, Vera Griffin; her brother-in-law, Kenneth Williams of Raton, NM; her two grandchildren, Shane Smith (Carrie) of Grand Prairie, TX; Tabor Chamber (Melissa) of Burleson, TX; one great-grandchild Patrick Charles of Grand Prairie, TX. Survivors also include several nieces and nephews and other family members.
