Edwin “Ed” Morris Schroeter, 84, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023. Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, December 15, 2023 at Trinity Fellowship Church West Auditorium, 5000 Hollywood Road. Ed was born February 5, 1939 in Hereford, Texas to A.J. “Major” and Margaret Schroeter. He graduated from Hereford High School and went on to earn his BA in Math from University of Texas at Austin. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve. In 1963, Ed married his first wife, Charlotte, who was the mother of his first four kids, Bryan, Brenda, Jay and Ron. With his second marriage to Karen in 1980, came Egan and Brenna. He married Ilajean Brinkman in 1992, and she preceded him in death in 2013. He has enjoyed life with LaNell “GoGo” Berry over the last ten years. Ed enjoyed a lengthy career in finance in many capacities. He was a certified financial planner and broker for Heinold Commodities for many years, before owning and operating his own finance company, Financial Freedom & Futures. Ed sold Amway and gave the commodities report on KGNC Radio for many years as well. Most recently, he was a copper associate with 7K. He was a member of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce. Ed was a longtime member of Trinity Fellowship Church and Amarillo Fellowship, where he was an elder. He used his gifts and talents through volunteer work with the Bethesda Outreach Ministry through TFC. He led a men’s group, was on the Prophetic Team, Altar Ministry, Offerings Team and served as a greeter at services at TFC. Ed was a true worshipper of the Lord, dancing before the Lord. He could most recently be found dancing at Shark Beach or announcing at Silver Dollar Speedway. Ed will forever be remembered for his outgoing personality and love for the Lord, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Charlotte; his third wife, Ilajean; two brothers, Paul Schroeter and Alex Schroeter; and two infant grandsons, Eddy and Robby Schroeter. Survivors include four sons, Bryan Schroeter (Terri) of Midland, Jay Schroeter (Jackie), Ron Schroeter (Allison) all of Amarillo, and Egan Schroeter of Del Rio; two daughters, Brenda Bailey (Brian) and Brenna Schroeter both of Amarillo; his special friend, LaNell “GoGo” Berry and her daughter, Jaime McNabb (Patrick); 17 grandchildren, Maddi Schroeter, Major Schroeter, Austin Bailey, Blake Bailey, Chase Bailey (Brianna), Sydney Beeson (Josh), Jaybud Schroeter, Nolan Schroeter, Bradley Schroeter, Justin Schroeter, Sydney Schroeter, Megan Schroeter, Grace Schroeter, Will Brown (Samantha), Spencer Rocha, Tate Rocha and Katie Walton; a bonus grandson, Sammy McNabb; and six great-grandchildren, Sawyer, John, Bennett, Ryder, Raegan, and Lucas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Bethesda Outreach through Trinity Fellowship Church.
