Elaine Meta Pillsbury

Elaine Pillsbury, 89, of Amarillo passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018. Celebration of Life Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Cox Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Nuthman officiating. Elaine was born March 27, 1928 in Marinette, Wisconsin to Gustva and Anna Jasch Hohenfeldt. She was raised Marinette until graduating from high school in 1950. Elaine enlisted in the United States Navy in September of 1950, as a Hospitalman at the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego, California during the Korean Conflict. There she meet her husband Charles Pillsbury and they were married December 26, 1951. Elaine graduated from the Northwest School of Nursing and worked in various doctor's office, hospitals and nursing homes before retiring in the early 80's. After being Honorably Discharged in February 1952, they moved to Dallas, Texas. They lived in many places including Dallas, Amarillo, Midland, Slidell, LA., Bakersfield, CA., Houston and finally retiring in El Paso. In 2009 they decided to move to Amarillo to be closer to family. Elaine enjoyed reading, sewing and square dancing. Both her and her husband selflessly volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister. Elaine is survived by sister, Bonnie Schraub; 2 sons, Tim Pillsbury and wife Emily of Amarillo and Dan Pillsbury and wife Scottie of Lake Charles, LA; 4 grandchildren, Chris Pillsbury and wife Amber of Clinton, Nathan Pillsbury and wife Sarah of Amarillo, Vanessa Brooks and husband David and Brandon Pillsbury, all of Lake Charles, LA and 4 great grandchildren, David, Tyler, Alex and Joshua; and her beloved pet dog "Zoey".
