Elizabeth Newby

Elizabeth Newby, 59, of Amarillo, walked into the arms of Jesus on September 23, 2023. Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 PM Saturday September 30, 2023 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Dr. with Pastor Corky Holland officiating. Elizabeth was born on May 22, 1964 in Ada, Oklahoma to Susan and Dale Newby. She graduated from Caprock High School in Amarillo and attended Amarillo College. Elizabeth worked as a nurse for over 20 years and was dedicated to serving others. She enjoyed spending time in the garden and loving on her nieces and nephews; they all called her “Nana”. Elizabeth was a devoted Christian who loved Jesus and was dedicated to reading her Bible daily. She was loved by so many and will be missed.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father, Dale Newby; and two sisters, June Koontz and Nancy Newby.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Susan Newby of Canyon; two sisters, Dela Sue Lopez-Newby and Dede Newby both of Conroe, Texas; one brother, Johnel Newby of Canyon; one sister, Renee Freeman of Colorado; one brother-in-law, Gary Wayne Koontz; ten nieces and nephews, Dale Koontz, Cathy Koontz, Joshua Koontz, Gary Allen Koontz, Chelsy Lopez, Caleb Lopez, Matthew Lopez, Jacob Newby, Jacey Newby and Scarlett Newby. Survivors also include a host of extended family members and friends.
