Ellen Mae Hrabal

June 14, 1940 — September 20, 2014

Ellen was born on June 14, 1940 in Spur to Walter and Velma McCormick. She was raised in McAdoo where she graduated from high school. She married Jim Hrabal on June 20, 1958 in McAdoo. Ellen and Jim moved throughout the United States during Jim's military service before moving to Dimmitt. After several years in Dimmitt, they moved to Amarillo in 1986. She attended Amarillo College where she obtained her nursing degree and worked as a LVN at the Veteran's Hospital, area nursing homes and the hospital. Most of all, Ellen loved her family and loved being a "Nanny" to her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Jim Hrabal of Amarillo; 3 daughters, Christi Meadows and husband Chuck of Alabama, Julie Barnes and husband Michael of Burleson and Debbie Fuller of Lubbock; 7 grandchildren, Josh Brenner, Jay Hicks, Colie George, Heidi Muller, Jarrod White, Trey Hill and Sarah Hill; 2 brothers, Hicks McCormick of Dickens and Mack McCormick and wife Paulette of Decatur 1 sister, JoAnn Dickinson and husband Ray of Arkansas; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild on the way; lifelong best friend Dody Garrett. "WE LOVE YOU A BUSHEL AND A PECK NANNY!" She was preceded in death by her Parents and brother, J.D. McCormick.
