Elleta Laverne (Moore) Wilson

Elleta Laverne Wilson, 79, of Amarillo, passed away on May 7, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 13, 2022 at Central Church of Christ with Pastor Lanny Newton officiating.

Elleta was born on February 11, 1943 in Fort Bliss, Texas to Lavar and Louise Moore. She graduated from Wellington High School. Elleta went on to Eastern New Mexico University and she graduated with her Masters in Education.

She married Frank Wilson on August 25, 1992 in Albuerque, New Mexico. Elleta was a member of Central Church of Christ.

Elleta grew up on the family farm and would eat the fresh vegetables that they were growing right off the vine. Elleta would always be caught playing with the pigs in the pin. She learned how to cook and sew from her mother, a skill she found useful as she had sewn her daughters’ clothes while they were growing up. Elleta had a love for teaching and taught children for over 40 years in the Clovis, Los Lunas and Seattle areas. She was a very smart, sweet, warm natured, and a soft spoken lady. Elleta was very well organized at home and in the classroom; and was sharp as a tack. Elleta enjoyed color works, quilting and scrap booking. She was a loving Mamaw, who loved her grandchildren with great passion. They would hold sleepovers, and they enjoyed big bowls of ice cream together. Elleta was a remarkable woman with a quiet force who will be dearly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Lavar Moore and Louise Thomason; her step-father D.C. Thomason; her brother Olan Moore; her step-brother Ron Thomason; her daughter Janet Howell.

Survivors include her husband Frank Wilson of the home; her daughter Jennifer Ingalls and husband Scott of Seattle, WA; her two step-sons Michael Wilson and wife Donna of Maryville, TN; Matthew Wilson and wife Noriko of Riverside, FL; her sister Linda Wolf of Wellington, TX; her step-sister Cathy Pipins of Mansfield, TX; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
